Why is the 2nd floor of my townhouse so hot?

Posted by Craig Elliott on Jul 11, 2017 8:10:00 AM

Here’s a story about a good customer. Actually, things started out on the wrong foot with this customer, because we left the gate open after a service call and his dog got out. He was not happy with us when that happened, but luckily we were able to find the dog and bring it back, so there was no harm, no foul.

He gave us a second chance, and we went out of our way to win him back. He lived in a townhouse that was about 1,800 square feet, on three levels, with a gas furnace in the basement and a master bedroom upstairs. The problem was, the temperature upstairs in his bedroom was too hot.

We told him there were a few basic things that he should try before he purchased a window unit, or a whole new HVAC system, or even to spend the money on cleaning out his system. We were trying to save him money, so we gave him more economical options.

Including:

  • Turning the fan to the "on" position
  • Shutting blinds and curtains
  • Keep all internal doors open
  • Free thermal imaging tests

Posted by Craig Elliott on Jun 22, 2017 1:04:20 PM

Here’s the Number One question I get from my customers in the summer: “Why the hell is my air conditioning leaking water all over the place?”

It’s not always in those exact words, but you get the idea. Now, I could be very blunt and tell them, “It’s your fault, because you didn’t take care of your system,” but usually I just say, “Let me fix the problem and teach you how to prevent it from happening again.”

If you’ve read this far, I’m guessing you’re already dealing with the same problem. Let’s talk about how to avoid it.

Posted by Craig Elliott on May 11, 2017 9:00:00 AM

Here it is folks.....

The much requested, highly anticipated, sought after step-by-step guide to how and why an air conditioning tune-up should be performed once a year. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Craig Elliott, a licensed master HVAC technician and gas fitter.  I am also a class A licensed contractor. I have 20 years of experience in the field, and I’m an expert.

But enough about me.....

let’s talk about the classic spring tune-up.   What is it? Why is it necessary? Is it really so important?  Let me break it down for you, if you really want to know.

The purpose of a spring tune-up of your heating and cooling equipment is to ensure proper operation. Basically, this means that you want the system to turn on when it’s supposed to.

Also, you don’t want to have to think about the temperature, and you don’t want your bills to be too high. You know you’re going to get bills for your heating and cooling, but you just don’t want them to be too high. That's the real reason most people get a tune-up.

The Benefits of Alexandria Air Cleaners

Posted by Craig Elliott on Jan 10, 2017 2:12:00 PM

According to Alexandria heating and air conditioning experts, indoor air could be more polluted compared to the air outside the house.

This is a surprising fact and is contrary to common belief that outdoor air contains more pollutants from car and industry emissions.

Thus, households are recommended to install Alexandria air cleaners.

Today, such fixtures could be considered as necessities. Health-conscious families could rest assured that they are breathing cleaner air if such cleaners would be installed.

The air people breathe within their homes could be full of various harmful substances and microorganisms.

Among those commonly found pollutants are bacteria, viruses, molds, fungi, dust, dust termites, small chemical molecules, and animal dander.

Needless to say, those could cause serious health problems. That is why air cleaning equipment could be considered as logical and helpful investments.
